Well, it sounds like you have a good balance with you and your wife Dao. Dont worry our Eryn was like your Jessie, extremely bright and a bit spoilt, having a new baby changes all that, her nose was put out of joint, because new baby took a lot of time, so her attitude and being spoilt so much changed.
She is still getting A's and school awards for the arts. cant believe she is 14 in January.
You have a lovely life full of challenges and joy ahead! I Love to hear all about it when you share.
Lynne

Thanks Roselady, I feel this boy will do well. Mum had all the medical tests and was in excellent health leading to the birth. The boy is quite big as her mum is quite small. Jessie was only 2.71Kg and 48cm in length at birth. But this one is 3.46Kg and 52cm in length. At 4 days of age he is pushing the size 0 baby clothes. I think he will quickly move to size 1. He is much more active than his big sister at birth. A child is a promise but what that promise will turn out can be tough to guess. Jessie has all the academic gifts and artistic talents of both parents. She is excellent in academic subjects and also in drawing, singing and playing music. But she is very shy. That why she would not sing in public. The future violin performances will definitely help her to improve. The Guild Music exam has a strong element of public speaking and presentation and that scared her so much. Jessie was born in Hanoi where I was working for 6 years. We went back to Australia when she was nearly 2 years old. She started school speaking very little English. And that has been a drag on her for nearly 4 years until recently. I wonder how she got away with A++ when she was thinking she would get the plain A like last time or even drop to B. Life is full of surprises but we can try to make them positive. She is funny. She is slack at home on many things (spoiled rotten), but when it comes to the outside world, she has a strong attitude "Don't even try unless you are prepared to try do it perfectly". That's why she is always the last to finish in artworks but always produces one of the best quality works. In mathematics, she has a stroke of genius making it very tough for her teachers. I taught her most of her advanced skills in mathematics but she always beat me at speed and accuracy down the track. I foresaw the danger so I tried very hard to teach her that failure was part of success. I think she has got it to some extent as she seems to cope well with negative surprises.

One big hurdle is that my wife spoils the kids rotten. I would prefer letting them face the world in a more independently, but it's the boss of the house would not agree. So we settle for the sum and not to worry too much about the parts.
