Rose Name: Altissimo Bred/ Introduced: George Delbard, France 1966 Class: Large Flowered Climber Colour: Blood Red Bloom Season: Spring, repeat Height x Width: 3 x 3 Scent: Mild Clove ARS Rating: 8.5 - A very good to excellent rose. One recommended without hesitation. Other Characteristics: Have to check on thorns & foliage Disease resistance: Good Description Very showy blood red with bright yellow stamens - The blooms don't change colour with age, which is a plus for such a lovely red. Outstanding, Large single blooms which look fantastic on the bush. Altissimo also makes a good cut flower. The flowers are large, flat and virtually single (only 5-10 petals). It makes an ideal climber for a pillar, growing to only about 3m. I've heard it said that the new growth is almost as pretty as the blooms! Altissimo is very happy in most warm situations. It blooms almost year-round in the hot, humid conditions of the Gold Coast. This pic dosen't really do Altissimo justice and I shall try to get a better one. |
